Sweet Home Alabama

Today is our first real Saturday in "Sweet Home Alabama," but don't you worry, I'm wearing my UGA t-shirt!

I wanted everybody to know that we are both officially here and officially working. My brother Jess got married last weekend (and it was so wonderful!). Last Sunday Chuck, Gran, and I left Hartwell, GA and drove to Americus. Then Chuck drove to Valdosta and I drove to Troy. I started work on Monday and Chuck finished up at VSU on Monday. He then came on over to Alabama and started at Troy University on Tuesday morning. It has been an absolute whirlwind and we committed to having a "staycation" this weekend at 105 Martha George Hall Drive (our new address).
My new job is a special education position in Montgomery. I wake up about 5 am and leave home about 6:30. I arrive at school sometime around 7:30 and the ride really hasn't been bad at all, thanks to Rick and Bubba. If you don't know who Rick and Bubba are, you are truly missing out on one of life's pleasures...one of Alabama's pleasures. I used to listen to them in college and even some during summer's at home in Americus. They quit broadcasting in Americus and it's been awhile since I've been able to enjoy them in the mornings! To be honest (no matter how sad this is) my drive feels like about 20 minutes in the mornings because of them! At school, I share a classroom with another great special education teacher and we decided to split subjects with our 26 special ed students, so I am teaching reading to 26 kids, K-6. I was able to be with the students on Wednesday and Thursday and enjoyed every second. My schedule is back-to-back-to-back and the day just flies by. I am able to leave school (right now at least) around 3:30 and that means I'm home by 4:15-4:30. This is much better than I was expecting and I've even cooked supper a couple of times!
Chuck's job is a little slow right now, but this was expected. He's reading through old files and meeting people. Troy (University...not State) had their first football game on Thursday night against Bowling Green in Ohio and lost. Chuck watched it on the internet and said that we just didn't play very well. We were disappointed, but looking forward to more exciting games. We are going to Gainesville, FL on Saturday to cheer for Troy as we play those yucky Florida Gators. By the way...did any of ya'll see Chipper Jones on ESPN Game Day today? He walked up in a Gators jersey!!! Very disappointing!
Last night, we went to Lowe's and geared up with some "home organization" items for our tiny storage room outside. Chuck spent the majority of the day working through his many tools and yard paraphanalia and did a fabulous job fitting it all into our little storage room. I'll have to take a picture. It's impressive. I went to Wal-Mart today and a woman in the bread aisle started asking me questions about the kind of bread that I buy. We struck up a great conversation and I thanked the Lord for putting us back in a small town. I definitely ALREADY miss Chick Fil A, Hobby Lobby, and Target, but there's a lot of great stuff about living in a small town. I'm excited to be here!
I'm going to post a picture of our house and then a picture of my favorite new appliances in our house. I'm waiting to take/post pictures of the inside when it actually looks like a HOME on the inside.

DRUM ROLL PLEASE.......................................

Are they beautiful or what?!?!?!?!?!

I think so...and I think my husband is the best thing in the world for getting them!
