Remembering

Today, on Memorial Day, I can't stop thinking about a program that the Kindergarteners did at school last week. It was a tribute to America and at the end, as they began to sing "God Bless the USA," several kids came down to the front and picked up these huge pictures. They were pictures of soldiers and each picture had a caption that said, "My Mom," or "My Dad." I was moved to tears (of course) as I thought of those five year olds whose parents are sacrificing SO much right now. There was one little girl that held up two pictures...one of her mom and another of her dad. Can you imagine? I'm also thinking about the Daddies of my 3rd graders that give up their time with those precious children to fight for our country. Living here in a "Military Town" has truly opened my eyes to this totally different life. So today, on Memorial Day, I am remembering.
