My niece Chloe and I have (what I like to think is) a special relationship. Every time I am with her at a nap/bed time, she asks me to lay down with her for a little while. However in the many (10ish) times that we've done this, we have never successfully gone to sleep. Let me re-phrase that...CHLOE has never successfully gone to sleep...Aunt Megan (most commonly referred to as "Meg") has had success in that area.
So last Saturday night after a lovely dinner at Longhorn with the McNeill clan (minus Jess and Bee) we were at Casey and Kevin's house and it came time for Chloe to go to bed. Of couse, she asked for me to lay down with her and when Casey gave her "the eye," Chloe said, "Mama, me and Meg won't play of nothing!" HA! So Casey gave in and Chloe and I laid down. I began to scratch her back and was determined to have her asleep (after all...it was WAY after her bedtime and she'd been playing Wii with us, so surely she was worn out!). The quiet lasted for a good 5 minutes and then Chloe looks at me and says, "Meg, you know what?" I am thinking that this is going to be the beginning of the end! Our faces are about 2 inches apart and I ask, "What?" (I knew this wasn't a great idea, but it turned out to be a great memory.) She proceeds, "Meg, Jesus is my very best friend!!!" And then continues with eyes as wide and bright as the moon, "He's alive again, Meg! He's alive again!"
As I laid there (and eventually got up and called Casey to come and "finish the job") I was so blessed and thanked God that Chloe's sweet heart is so focused on Him. I've prayed that for her since she was born, that even before she could know Him with her head, that she would know Him with her heart. That her spirit would become one with His.
I love you my sweet Chloe Bug! Oh...I love you so much!
