So...back to the blog post...last night at my Discipleship Class on prayer, our facilitator began talking about how God answers prayer. She said, "Have you ever asked God to just hit you in the head with the answer...to give you a sign?" And that is what got me thinking about this...
During my sophomore year of college, Chuck and I started "talking." It was wonderful! That summer, we had a DTR (Define the Relationship) and started dating. Now, he told me from the very beginning that he wanted us to date to see if we were to be married. I was so grateful (and very impressed). A very short couple of months later, the Lord clearly showed Chuck that I was to be his wife, and before I headed back to Samford that fall, Chuck had communicated to me that he wanted to marry me (someday). August came and went....September...October...and I still had not heard a definite "yes" or "no" from the Lord about whether Chuck would be my husband.
As I drove home for Thanksgiving, I begged the Lord to let me know what was up! I was getting very emotionally attached to Chuck and beginning to view him as my future mate. I told the Lord that if he wasn't to be my husband, I needed to check out in a hurry because my heart was in a continuous "bippoty boppity" state over this boy. I remember driving those hours and petitioning my Lord...asking for clarity...seeking His guidance...requesting a sign.
About halfway between B'ham and Americus, Hwy 280 merges onto I-85 for three exits...yes, only three. On that sweet November day, I hit I-85 and almost wrecked. There on the side of the interstate was a new billboard. I had driven that road for 2.5 years and never seen it before. It simply said:
Chuck's
You never had it so good!
I don't know why I was so surprised...it's exactly what I had asked the Lord for...a sign!
That evening I had the opportunity to tell Chuck about my answered prayer...and that is one of my favorite memories...a night I'll always remember!
Now, eight or so years later, I would love to shout it from the rooftop that
"I've never had it so good!"
*I found this on the internet, just to prove that I'm telling the truth! This is not the actual sign that I saw...my sign was a billboard...but you can see in the small yellow writing, "You never had it so good!"*

I am thankful every single day that both of you waited on the Lord. I don't know of a thing that can make a mother happier than to see her child happy. Your relationship is a joy in my life. Donna/Mom
