It's That Time Again

Basketball Season....Ready or not, HERE IT COMES!!!!!

I've always known that one of Chuck's main loves in life is basketball. When he was playing B-Team and Varsity basketball for the Southland Academy Raiders, I was right up there on the stage keeping the book...all those many years! Isn't it neat how God designed our story??

We always tease about not knowing that each other existed for the first 20 years of our life when we walked the same halls and sat in the same desks every day. Our entire dating/engagment relationship was LONG DISTANCE! All that to say that our first basketball season as "betrothed" was interesting...

I dreaded it...I knew he would be so busy, and I was right, but the Lord was on top of it. He prepared the way for us and it really wasn't as bad as I was expecting. However, truth be told, we didn't see very much of each other from November to February. He did talk me into keeping his book (again!) (which I love by the way!) and so our small amount of time together was usually spent with 20 middle/high school boys. So when the state playoffs were finally over in February, I found myself breathing a deep sigh of relief....whew...."I'm going to start cooking again," "we'll eat AT THE TABLE again," "I'll probably get tired of him because I'll see him so much," "he'll have time to go to Wal-Mart with me," etc. Oh my....the wishful thinking....naive and new Mrs. Carson didn't know that M-A-R-C-H was right around the corner.

If you're a guy and you're a basketball fan, you're probably laughing right now because you know that with that lovely 3rd month comes "March Madness!" Chuck quickly explained to me that basketball is just getting started at the end of February. "Megan, only HIGH SCHOOL basketball is over in February." As he patiently taught me about all the college basketball teams and persuasively convinced me to pick my favorites, I surrendered one more month to "basketball season."

Well, today marks the beginning of our 4th basketball season as "betrothed" and believe it or not, I'm looking forward to March!
