So I almost made a "boo boo" today and forgot that I am teaching 8 year olds.
I was teaching a writing lesson today and trying to get the sweet little ones to make a connection with a story I read about giving. I tried to explain to the sweet little ones that there are so many children in the world that don't have anything for Christmas. I shared with them about Chuck and I making boxes for Operation Christmas Child (HUGE fans of Samaritan's Purse....as is everyone else in Americus during tornado season) . I explained that these kids would have one shoebox and that would be it! I even shared that at my last school, I had some students that didn't get anything for Christmas....THIS IS WHEN THE RED FLAGS WENT UP!!!!!
A storm of questioning from the sweet little ones ensued:
"What about Santa Clause?"
"Did they get coal?"
"Santa couldn't find them?"
"Were they really bad?"
"Why didn't Santa get them anything?"
I mumbles out some sort of coverup and moved right along.....isn't it good to know that the sweet little ones believe?
