So, I'm sure you know that I have a new job. I am a special education teacher at an elementary school here in Alabama. I'm sincerely excited to be able to use this SPED degree from my beloved Samford, but I have no qualms admitting that it is quite an adjustment from the general education classroom.
My administrators and mentors are instructing me to focus more on the paperwork and legal side of things than the kids. WOW! This goes against my passion, my calling, my desires. These kids have such desperate needs...each one unique and challenging in it's own way and everything in me wants to dive in deep and meet those needs to the best of my ability. However, instead I am spending the majority of my time correcting legal documents, holding meetings, doing paperwork, etc. What a major change for me!!! Please pray for me as I continue to get my balance in this new area!
